Have you ever wondered which the smallest casino in the world is?
Casinos come in all shapes and sizes, and you would not believe how small casinos can be. However, for three whole weeks in 2016, the smallest online casino was so small it could fit inside a car.
The smallest travelling casino was a fully-working London cab, thanks to an initiative by Grosvenor Casinos.
Casino, Taxi, Both
The cab featured all the essentials you’d expect from a casino: a gaming table, dealer, internet gambling facilities, a TV streaming sports and a bar. All that managed to fit inside a black four-wheeler in Birmingham.
The unique gambling house, a diesel-powered taxi vehicle, was unveiled by Grosvenor Casino back in 2016. The interesting travelling gaming house began its journey across major cities to promote the casino’s “play your way” campaign which was nothing more than a celebration of the extraordinary summer of sport, according to Birmingham Mail.
The cab quickly attracted a lot of attention. This taxi offered a choice of being taken to the Hills Street, Birmingham casino – free of charge – or choose to be driven anywhere else in the city for an optional donation to Carers Trust. That is the company’s chosen charity organization.
Customers were able to hail the taxi down or call for a ride via X (formerly Twitter). At the time of the announcement, the Marketing Director at Grosvenor Casinos Jo Blundell shared his excitement over what they at the company believe is the world’s smallest travelling casino.
“We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the casino and reward our loyal customers with some complementary rides and welcome new faces through this truly a unique experience”, he said.
The service lasted three weeks only, as it was only part of the promotion of the Summer of Sport campaign. Still, a very unique concept that definitely garnered a lot of attention.
The World’s Top 5 Smallest Casinos
Thanks to this innovative invention, we started thinking about other small casinos of the world. We came up with a list of the five smallest casinos in the world. See them all below.
- Slots-A-Fun Casino – Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
- North Cadbury Court – Somerset, England, UK
- Saloon #10 – Deadwood, South Dakota, USA
- Deltin Caravela Casino – Mandovi River, Goa, India
- Wildfire Casino & Lanes – Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
There are many tiny casinos such as the Grosvenor Taxi Casino that are prime examples of the smallest casinos, but are unfortunately no longer functional. Here are the top casinos to visit if you want to try the smallest gambling houses in the world.
Slots-A-Fun Casino – Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
This is the smallest casino in Las Vegas, the gambling capital of the USA. Slots-A-Fun Casino is one of the oldest casinos on this list, too. It first launched in 1971, filling out the space of the merry-go-round that was previously there.
It changed hands a couple of times since then too, but it was in 2009 that MGM took over an created a brand out of the venue. The casino used to be a classic gambling venue but since 2011, the focus has been on slots mostly. The small casino also has a mini bowling alley and a bar.
North Cadbury Court – Somerset, England, UK
For the next small casino, we are moving to the UK. In Somerset, North Cadbury Court is also the place where you can play at the Basement Casino.
According to croupiers, it’s a fully-functional casino that is set inside an actual basement. The underground cellar room adds a bit of flair to the overall experience, which is truly unique considering it’s an actual basement. However, players need not worry about the gaming experience as all tables are full-size.
Supposedly, the casino can fin a maximum of 30 people at the same time, as it can quickly get very crowded inside.
Saloon #10 – Deadwood, South Dakota, USA
The third location on the list is another US casino. Saloon #10 is a historic landmark. The casino is styled like an old Western saloon, complete with a bar and casino inside. It’ very small, with only 3,000 square feet. Still, the museum-saloon-casino offers around 75 slot and blackjack tables.
It’s a very famous landmark for sightseeing for everyone who visits Deadwood. Allegedly, it’s the birthplace of Dead Man’s Hand, as it’s where Wild Bill Hickok was shot. Even if it’s not true, it’s still a fantastic opportunity to get a taste of the Old West. The venue has live music, too!
Deltin Caravela Casino – Mandovi River, Goa, India
The list includes smallest casinos in the world, but we did not specify that all of them are land-based. Deltin Caravela casino is one of the smallest gambling houses, but it’s not land-based – it’s a boat.
More specifically, it’s a luxury floating hotel that’s a cruise ship casino all in one. The casino offers 17 tables that cover various gambling categories, including blackjack, roulette, and baccarat. The casino is only part of the luxurious offer that passengers get when they book a stay at Deltin Caravela Casino. There’s also a restaurant, and two gaming floors. The ship is afloat on the Mandovi River in Goa.
Wildfire Casino & Lanes – Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
This is the biggest land-based casino on the list, but it’s still so small that it landed on the list of the top 5 smallest casinos in the world. Wildfire Casino & Lanes is another venue set in Las Vegas. Like Slots-a-Fun Casino, it’s also a bowling casino, as you can go for bowling if you want. In fact, it’s famous for its 18 bowling lanes facilities that are constantly packed with customers.
Besides bowling, players can also enjoy slot machines and video poker. It’s also a sportsbook. You can sit in, order a burger, and enjoy fantastic games in one of the smallest casinos in the world.
