Currently, there has only been one applicant for a casino license in southern tier NY, and it is Tioga Downs. While this casino is one of the best out there according to their books, it is unsettling for some to know that this is all that there is. They are worried that some of the other casinos that used to be in the area are going to go out of business, and wish to not renew their license. While they are certainly qualified for the licensing, they just have not put in their applications for it as of yet, and many of the authorities do not think that they are going to be handing them in at all.
So What's Next for the Southern Tier?
As of right now, just having Tioga Downs is one that is going to be running, and accepted for the license to run their casino so this is good news for those that enjoy playing the games in the long time casino that has yet to let them down. It is one of the casinos that wants to be a part of the state, but also make sure that they are up to date on their licensing.
While this is good news for the casino, since they are not going to have a lot of competition in the market, they also are the only ones that have to pay in their taxes to the state which could be bad for the state. It is good to have this type of income going in for the casino, but bad when it comes to losing out on some casinos that would normally be paying in. This means some of the plans that the state had will have to be on hold until they are safely able to afford it.
As of right now, there is not much to mention when it comes to what is going to happen with the other casinos. However, as more news becomes available on the topic, we will be the first ones to let you know exactly what is going to happen for the casinos within the southern tier of New York.
