Former Marketing Director of Morrisons, James Condon, has been appointed as Mecca Bingo’s new Brand Marketing Director. This newly created role will be tasked to perform day-to-day strategic planning and implementation of marketing activity for the company. He will be reporting to the Mecca Bingo Managing Director, Mark Jones.
The Bingo firm is presently undergoing a corporate division restructuring. Part of the restructure is creating the Mecca Bingo brand team and thus, needing the Brand Marketing Director post. This Brand team was formulated following the integration of the 97 clubs in the interactive division that handled online gaming as well as mobile gaming. Condon will be replacing Miles Baron, the incumbent marketing director for clubs-based business at Mecca Bingo. Baron will remain in the company assuming another position, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
Mark Jones discussed with the press the reasons for the restructure and appointment of Condon. He said that the decision to move from a channel-based structure to a brand-based one will help them focus on delivering “a fantastic experience” to their customers. This will not matter how the customers will choose to play; whether they play it online, through their smartphone, iPad or in clubs as long as they play it on Mecca Bingo.
Mecca Bingo is part of the Rank Group, which owns Blue Square, an online bookmaker brand.
