Ladbrokes, a British online and land-based sportsbetting provider has updated its communications department and hired Donal McCabe to fill the newly created role of external relations director. McCabe has been hired from British property giant Land Securities where he has served as corporate communications director since 2007.
Due to start his new position in January, McCabe will be in charge of leading Ladbrokes’ global communications techniques and assume responsibility for coordinating media, investor relations, public affairs, branding and internal communications duties via a new ‘communications council’.
Chief executive officer for Ladbrokes, Richard Glynn stated “Donal will strengthen an accomplished team and provide a coordinated approach to our communications in the UK and internationally, encompassing traditional and new media,”
Glynn declared that ‘effective communications’ were essential for Ladbrokes to realise its ‘growth ambitions’ and stated that McCabe served as communications director for Alliance Boots before joining Land Securities.
McCabe stated “Ladbrokes is a strong exciting brand with global ambitions going through significant change,”
“I’m excited by the significant communications challenges and opportunities it has to offer.”
