Online casinos and online sports betting companies are at the forefront of many sporting organisations, and this week alone there have been a number of new sponsorship deals announced regarding some major football clubs in England and Wales. Today is the turn of motor sport to take centre stage with the Las Vegas Motor Speedway announcing a deal with the Boyd Gaming Corporation to sponsor the annual race from next season.
The NASCAR Nationwide Series in America is already sponsored by the Boyd Gaming Corporation, but now the annual race in Las Vegas will also be sponsored by the company as well. Next years event is scheduled for the weekend beginning Friday 7th March 2014 with the main event “The Boyd Gaming 300” taking place on the Saturday afternoon.
Paul Chakmak is the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President at the Boyd Gaming Corporation and he had this to say about the new sponsorship deal. “With our recent extension, Boyd Gaming is looking forward to celebrating our 20th anniversary as the sole corporate sponsor of the Nationwide Series race since it began in 1997. The new name we've selected, the Boyd Gaming 300, reflects what the race has become over the years, a marquee event for our customers across the country.”
The race was previously called Sam's Town, which is actually a company that is owned by the Boyd Gaming Corporation, and they have been sponsoring the race since as long ago as 1997. A 20 year sponsorship deal is a drop in the ocean to companies like Boyd Gaming, but it is good to see companies being loyal to sporting events in their own towns and cities. Perhaps others companies should take note and start sponsoring clubs and events in their home towns too, rather that relying on major deals from overseas.
