Online gambling and online gaming is as popular as ever, but according to a recent survey undertaken by Juniper Research numbers are going to soar in the years ahead as more and more people take ownership of mobile devices.
According to Juniper Research it is expected that by the end of 2018 a further 100million people will take to their mobile device for some form of mobile gambling. That will bring the total number of people to around the 164 million mark, people who either play at an online casino, place bets online with a sports betting company and play some form of online lottery.
A statement issued on behalf of Jupiter Research said, “Although growth has been slow in the US since the Department of Justice ruling in 2011, the number of users in the region is expected to pick up sharply from 2014 onwards. This will occur as states which have not yet fully legislated on remote gambling make progress following successful services launching in Nevada and New Jersey. In addition, inter-state poker, where two players in separate, regulated markets play against each other, is likely to become a reality in the medium term, further driving mobile/tablet gambling usage.”
Though the report said that mobile gaming numbers would increase it was quick to point out that people would be switching from their desktop PC to some form of mobile device, simply because the advancement in technology means online gambling is far easier on a small hand held device rather than the more bulkier home desktop PC's.
It is hard to believe that a few short years ago many people only took ownership of their first mobile phone, let alone a device that would allow them to play their favourite casinos games on the move wherever and whenever they wanted to. It makes you wonder what we will all be doing in 10 years time too!
