Dive deep enough, and you will find the sun’s warmth no longer reaches you. At the very depths of the ocean, its inhabitants make their own light, either for themselves or as bait to attract others towards them, only to chomp them down. The graphics in this title are quite simplistic, but do an excellent job at keeping your interest on the reels. The background image is in the depths of the ocean, where light is scarce. Occasional flickers of light float through, but your eyes will be firmly locked onto the playing field, where all the luminous creatures light your way in the darkness. Using air bubbles as borders to differentiate the reels was a nice touch by Playtech, although we wish the bubbles were animated. Luminous Life is played on a standard 5×3 playing field and grants its pays by collecting three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel. Re-spin and free spin special features use the same gameplay mechanics, something we are not big fans of. Having two bonuses and one just being the worse version of the other is not exciting.

Symbols include all sorts of squids, jellyfish, shrimp and other luminous sea life that we have only seen in our biology textbooks. A purple-pink plant is Wild substituting for all icons except for Scatters. A green-yellow plant stands for Scatter and triggers free spins. On every winning spin, the symbols which completed the win are held in place, while a re-spin is played. If new icons expand the existing pay, or a new winning combination is formed, then another re-spin is granted. This continues until the reels are entirely covered with a single symbol, or no new eligible icons appear. Collecting three or more Scatters rewards five free spins, where Scatter symbols transform into Wilds, that are frozen in place until the bonus is over. The re-spins special feature is active during free spins. Collecting a full playing field of Scatters automatically awards the grand prize.
