Pirates! They’re the lifeblood of so many stories that it’s impossible to keep track of them all. We’ve seen them appear in many movies, TV shows, books, and yes, even slots! So Playtech is entering a rather crowded market with their new game. It’s fortunate, then, that they’ve created such a fun and memorable release!

Bombs is played on a 5×7 board with 20 fixed paylines. Players can look forward to bonus bombs, cash prizes, multipliers, random Wilds, mystery symbols and free spins. And yes, all of these are awarded through bombs! The slot also prompts you to play with two ships for an extra cost, which we recommend. More ships means more bombs, which means more bonuses!

To say that we just like the visuals would be underselling how much we enjoyed it. Watching these two ships fire their cannons at each other with no success was quite amusing. But the real magic happens beneath the waves! We like how each bomb has its own colour coding, making it easy to determine what’s coming instinctively once you play enough.

The game is played on a 5-reel board where each reel is seven icons tall. You have a total of 20 fixed paylines. To win, collect three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel. All wins must follow one of the currently active paylines or else their cash prize won’t be awarded to the gambler.

You set your total bet by adjusting it directly using the plus and minus buttons. This allows for wagers between $0.20 and $500 on each spin, which is a fantastic betting spread! High rollers will be quite satisfied with it, we’re sure.

This Playtech release comes with high volatility and an RTP ranging between 95.31% and 96.61%.We’re not too comfortable that it dips beneath the 96% average, but that’s something we’re willing to forgive. After all, for a jackpot worth 4,000x your total stake, we’re willing to forgive a lot of things!

While we liked the icons themselves, they’re not really that memorable. This is mostly due to the size of the board. None of them really stand out, because they’re all tiny!
If you don’t mind paying some extra cash, you can turn an extra ship on. This means you have to pay more with each spin, but it also makes triggering other special features more frequent.
Occasionally, ships will fire bombs, which sink beneath the tides. Each spin will push them once position lower, on either the left or right side of the reels. They will continue to sink and eventually disappear, unless a red barrel lands on the same row. That activates the bonus, and can award one of the following special features:

• 10 free spins
• Up to ten Wilds added to the board
• Mystery transforming bombs
• A cash prize up to 10x your wager
• A bomb that blows up all other bombs!

While free spins are being played, the odds of ships firing off bombs are much higher.
