In times of austerity many businesses are finding it hard to make ends meet, with the end result seeing many closing their doors for good. The gaming world is no different it seems as another site is to close its doors for good next month with the site in question being the well renowned Groupe Partouche.
Earlier this year Fortune Poker were forced to close their doors for the final time on Sunday 31st March, and now on Monday 17th June the French website Partouche.fr will also close for good.
A statement from the company was issued this morning and it read, “The Partouche.fr website closes its doors on June 17, 2013. Join our partner MyPok and find your game world. For almost three years, we have strived to offer you the best online poker. We thank all the players, communities, and partners who have remained faithful to the proposal Groupe Partouche offers. As of June 17, 2013, Partouche.fr ceases its activity, but all players will continue to play in the Partouche Universe when joining gaming site MyPok.fr.”
Sad news for everyone involved, but at least all of the players are able to transfer their accounts to another website. There may be more to the closure than meets the eye though, because certain people in the know believe the closure may be down to the results of a recent television programme regarding the Partouche Groupe. It is believed that a certain number of family members of Partouche employees were handed a unspecified amount of Euros to play on Partouche.fr, which is actually against French gaming regulations.
It remains to be seen if those allegations are true or not, but with the closure of the website imminent it appears as though they may well be, but only time will tell if that is the case.
