Temple of Nudges Slots
Jungle exploration? Check. Lost, ancient temple full of treasures? Check. Spooky statues that try to make you turn away? Check. Temple of Nudges has all the hallmarks of your usual adventure slot! But here, the real treasure lies with the numerous statues lurking outside. A clever misdirection by NetEnt, but we won’t fall for it! This game is played on a 5x3 board with 243 ways to win. It has two special features. The first bonus is the Nudge, which occurs after every winning combination. All the reels shift one symbol down, revealing new icons at the top, and possibly creating news wins. The other special feature is the re-spin, which turns all symbols of a certain type sticky for one turn.
How to PlayWe’re used to fantastic graphics from NetEnt, so this release was mildly disappointing. We like the various plants shifting around in the background, but that’s the only thing that stands out. It’s called Temple of Nudges, but we never actually see any temples! There’s also a lack of interesting animations on the reels themselves. This slot is played on a 5-reel board, where each reel is three icons tall. Instead of paylines, the game uses the Ways to Win system.Simply collect three or more identical symbols, starting with the leftmost reel to earn a cash prize. Thanks to Ways to Win, there’s no need to worry whether said combination fits into a payline or not!
Betting Options and PayoutNetEnt has always made it simple to set your total bet and this time is no exception. Adjust the coin value and bet level and you’ll be able to tweak your total stake by proxy. Players can choose to bet between $0.25 and $250 on each spin, which is a great betting spread. It benefits both casual players and high rollers, though the latter won’t be interested in this slot. Temple of Nudges has medium volatility and an RTP of 96.03%. This is just barely above the current industry average of 96% flat. What we like a lot less is the paytable! It feels like it has been purposefully gimped to keep wins low.Unless something drastically changes, this is a deal-breaker for us, and the sole reason why we can’t recommend it.
Symbols and Extra FeaturesHonestly, we’re not sure how we feel about the symbols. They fit the theme and they’re not generic. But we just don’t like them. Of course, this is purely a subjective thing: maybe you’ll love them! As for us? We’ll pass, thanks. After every win, the reels will nudge down by one position. This allows for brand new wins to be collected, even from winning combinations which already paid before the nudge. Nudging continues until no new wins are available. At random times, a re-spin will be played. A specific icon will be chosen to remain on the reel during this bonus. This allows said symbol to expand its winning combination, and earn you a better score.
Our VerdictIf it had a better paytable, any other nit-picks we’ve had would have remained just that: nit-picks. But unless NetEnt swing back to adjust the paytable, we cannot recommend Temple of Nudges in good conscience.
