Visually, we quite like it. Bubbling, fizzy soda, clouds made out of cotton candy, and various hard candies all over the reels for your enjoyment. If you’re on a diet, chances are, this is a game you might want to skip. The user interface is also done in a relatively interesting manner, with pipelines attached to the side of the reels, allowing several elements to hang in the air, such as your level, and scores for a single level and the game as a whole, letting you keep track of how much you have won. Other things sit at the bottom where you expect them to be.

On the gameplay side of things, Sugar Pop 2: Double Dipped handles itself very well. The progression system is a lot more interesting than it lets on at first, and there are a lot of bonuses, which incentivises you to play more and more to unlock everything. Of course, we can’t help but feel like they’ve gone a bit too far with it. Somewhat naturally, levelling up slows as you reach higher levels, and unless you’re really lucky with the symbol drops, getting to level 29 seems like something you’d have to keep the game running for to ever reach. We like it as an idea, but we feel a small level squish wouldn’t be a bad idea.
