We were quite surprised that Microgaming’s Roulette game dates back all the way to 2005! Usually, releases from that era tend to look bad. It’s only natural, given the progress of time and new technology. But it seems like the developers spruced it up over the years. Because it feels silky smooth to play!

In terms of layout and gameplay, it will feel familiar to fans of European Roulette. This is a single-player game, so there’s no chat or live dealer to pay attention to. Instead, the whole release follows your pace, rather than having a set timer. Perfect for new players who are just getting started!

As we already mentioned, Microgaming Roulette Gold Series is a standard European Roulette game. It doesn’t have anything like Quantum Roulette’s multipliers. Just standard 36 numbers and a single zero which you can bet on!

So how do you set your bets? First, you pick one of the coins sitting on the desk. You then place these coins on whatever numbers or number combinations you want to bet on. One thing we’d like to see improved is how the game highlights relevant numbers when you’re about to bet on them. Right now, it’s done well enough, but it’s barely visible compared to other software providers. You also don’t see which numbers will be played if you’re doing one of the side bets using the small wheel above the main board.

Fans of betting big will be happy to hear that Microgaming allows you to go all the way up to $1,000! The coin values range from $1 up to $100 per round. Specific fields, like numbers, have set restrictions, preventing you from betting $1000 on one number every round.

There are two types of bets available in this release. Outside bets are safer but have small payouts. Even/Odd, Red/Black and 1-18/19-36 are perfect examples of this since they only pay 1:1. Dozen and Column bets are marginally better. They cover fewer numbers and pay 2:1 as a result.

Inside Bets are the riskier of the group. Line bets on six numbers total and pays 5:1. Corner picks only four numbers and is worth 8:1 if won. Street and Split will award 11:1 and 17:1, respectively. While the highest prize, worth 35:1, is a straight number bet.

You can bet on side bets in two ways. First, by using the racetrack above the main board. Or, by opening advanced settings and clicking on Call Bets. Here, you can pick a variety of side bets directly from the menu.
