Oracle of Gold is a divination-themed video slot with 6×6 reels and cluster pay mechanics. It’s one of the laidback Pragmatic Play slots, clearly not marketed too much as some other releases, but we believe it could be a sleeper hit. It’s an underrated gem that will provide lots of fun to players without creating drama.

The game’s main features are Free Spins, and outside of that, you also get Extra Multipliers that boost the payouts. Together, these two create wins that can theoretically reach up to 10,000x the stake. And like always, Pragmatic Play included the Ante Bet and Buy Bonus options for players who want to speed up the process a bit. To play, you first need to select a wager. Once you have the bet, you can spin the grid and wait for the symbols to stop spinning. Clusters of matching icons landing adjacently yield a payout – 5 is the lowest number, 15+ yield the highest payout.

Clusters that land and form on the screen are demolished. In their place, you get new icons from above. If the new formation of icons creates a cluster, it will also be destroyed to make room for new icons. This goes on until there’s no new clusters forming on the grid. At the end of the round, you get the payout that’s been added together.

The game has a 96.55% RTP and high volatility.

Bets in Oracle of Gold start at $0.20 and go up to $240. That’s a huge betting range for most slots, but it’s pretty common in Pragmatic Play slots. Besides the standard betting range, players can use two extra bet options – the Ante Bet and Buy Bonus.

The Ante Bet increases the chances of hitting Free Spins 5x. It costs double, too. For instance, if you are placing a $2 bet, turning on the Ante Bet will boost the bet to a total of $4 per spin. There’s another Ante Bet option called Super Spin, which costs 5x more, which sees 5x or 10x Multipliers added to the screen.

Wild Multipliers

At any point during the round, regular icons can appear golden. If these golden icons form part of a cluster, they will leave behind a wild once the cluster is destroyed. These Wilds then receive a Multiplier than ranges from 2x to 3x, which is applied to the win. If there are more multipliers, their values are added together.

Free Spins

Scatters unlock Free Spins. Land 4, 5 or 6 Scatters and you will receive 10, 15, or 20 Spins with a 3x, 5x or 10x payout, respectively. Free Spins also feature a global Win Multiplier that applies to all wins in the round. With every tumble, the Multiplier increases by 1x, and does not reset until the end of the round.

It’s possible to retrigger the feature with additional Scatters (4-6 Scatters yield 10-20 spins, respectively). Scatters in retriggers do not pay, though.

However, in terms of design, Pragmatic Play took a restrained approach. The game is subtle, delivering everything you’d expect to see from such a game, but not in a flashy way. The result is a cool-looking game set within a purple-drenched temple, with the priestess residing over a golden pot full of magic. On the grid, you will encounter gems and animal heads. Gems are the low-value icons, while animals are the high-value ones. All in all, a well-rounded game with a nice take on the theme that’s not overboard.

Our Experience Playing Oracle of Gold

In short, we liked the game.

It’s not too intense, and despite having high variance, it’s a game with subtle gameplay that’s quite fun. The choice of features is limited, okay, but it’s not that there’s not enough of boosters to keep up the fun. You have Wilds and Multipliers, and a Free Spins round with a progressive multiplier that keeps increasing with every new tumble.

Overall, the game looks pretty generic – the features are classic, the betting range and game specifics are something you see quite often. But it’s a solid gameplay paired with solid payouts, so we consider it a well-performing game with lots to offer to players who like this kind of games.
