It’s a money wheel-type of game, meaning the focus is entirely on the giant wheel int eh middle of the studio. Much of gameplay relies on the wheel spin, as it can either produce a cash prize or entry to one of three bonus game rounds.

Playing Ice Fishing Live is a very straightforward process, all thanks to its simplified betting system. Here’s how it works:

• Step 1 – Place Your Bets. At the start of each round, players can choose between two Leaf bets or three Bonus bets. The Leaf bets are main wagers. Chips are placed via the UI at the bottom of the screen.
• Step 2 – Spin the Wheel. The game uses a digital wheel divided into 53 segments. The round starts when the wheel starts spinning. The flapper lands on one segment each round, ending the spin.

Every spin in the game can bring multipliers to random segments. They can apply to both Leaf and Bonus Bets, so there are no rules. Moreover, the size of the Multipliers is also random as they can be from 2x to 10x.

The game has three bonus rounds:

• Big Oranges
• Huge Reds

Each round is visually similar, to be honest. The point is that the host  goes “fishing” for a catch that reveals a multiplier. Differences between them lie only in the max win potential and hit frequency, as Lil Blues is more likely to hit (as there are 4 segments) than Huge Reds (as there’s just 1 segment on the wheel).

Like most Evolution releases, Ice Fishing Live runs smoothly across all devices. The interface is touch-friendly on mobile, and the crisp visuals remain sharp even on smaller screens. The game streams without lag, obviously, though the bright color palette can feel harsh during extended play on phones at night.

Theme, Visuals & Sound

Thematically, we are looking at a pretty unique game. Its icy blue theme ties neatly into the fishing concept, though we are curious to learn why is it set in ice rather than regular, not-iced settings.

A thing that might affect your opinion of the game is this: almost all visuals are CGI rather than live props. The bonus rounds feature a host “catching fish” with multiplier values, but the RNG-based format reduces the host’s presence compared to other studio-led game shows. It’s a good thing to rely on digitalized visuals, but we did kind of expect a blend rather than a full pivot. The soundtrack is light and playful, but the computer-generated environment makes the presentation feel less immersive than competing titles.

Our Experience Playing Ice Fishing Live

During testing, the impression that we got right off the bat is that the game is fast-paced and beginner-friendly.

Plus,  it’s not that complicated to play and gameplay can be learned through one single round.

The Leaf bets hit frequently enough to keep the bankroll steady, as that’s the only way to maintain it long-term. Sadly, the bonus rounds, which have the best payout potential, are very rare and have only a handful of segments on the wheel.

That means that Leaf Bets are very likely to hit, more often than any other type of outcome. However, this creates a repetitive bonus structure, which is not the happiest of outcomes for us.

Furthermore, the game’s reliance on RNG made the experience feel more like a digital slot than a live game show. Which is surprising, considering how well other Evolution game shows play out. Therefore, while we enjoyed the smooth interface that the game presented, and we loved higher RTP compared to most competitors, we did not exactly love the lack of a real wheel and authentic studio environment. It made the game a bit dry for us.

In conclusion: the game’s fun for casual sessions, but lacks the flair and depth of Evolution’s other, more popular titles.
