Rival Gaming rolled out Golden Gorilla in December 2014 and the jury is still out on the five reel, fifty payline game. The action takes place deep in the jungle where two explorers are out to locate the coveted gorilla statues and they encounter numerous wild animals and exotic plants during the course of their journey. And while the visuals are not exactly breathtaking, several high-value bonus rounds should prove enough to compensate.

Most of the time you will need three identical icons on an active payline starting from the left to receive an instant credit win, although there are two symbols that pay in groups of two or more. Mad Gorilla acts as Wild here, replacing all non-Scatter icons to complete wins where possible. Wild can also expand to cover all positions on a single reel, while it carries 2x and 3x multipliers during Free Spin play and Super Round play respectively. While + and – are used to choose between four coin denominations – $0.01, $0.05, $0.10 and $0.25, Select Coins and Select Lines are in place to stake between 1 and 10 credits per line and activate up to fifty paylines. In addition to Spin, Bet Max and Autoplay options are supported as well.

When it comes to base line payouts, these can be dubbed as quite impressive, even if you are only wagering one coin per line. Five gorilla symbols on a payline on a minimum bet will see you land 5,000 credits, but should you happen to obtain said combination on a bet level of 10, you will be awarded 50,000 coins.

Numerous surprises await in the jungle wilderness, and the two explorers have to be wary of dangerous animals such as snakes, leopards, dragons and gorillas, with even jungle monkeys not as tame as you would expect them to be. And while exotic fruits can be a good source of calories, brightly coloured plants tend to be poisonous. Ancient artefacts and idol statues are some of the other items the explorers will come across.

Three or more Free Spin icons positioned anywhere trigger the Free Spins round, awarding 15, 25 or 50 free games. The same combination of symbols occurring during the feature triggers the Super Round, awarding the same number of free spins as before. Should you happen to land three Dragons anywhere on the screen during this round Bonus Round will be activated. You will then pick which golden gorilla statues to break and receive bonus credits in the process, with new statues falling from above.
