The story of King Midas is a cautionary tale that dates back from the time of the Ancient Greeks. In it, the king, yearning for wealth, wished that everything he touched became gold. He got his wish, though it wasn’t as glamorous as he had hoped it would be and it culminated with him losing everything he had ever loved, including his daughter, who turned into a statue of gold. Praying for release, he was told to wash his hands in the river Pactolus by Dionysus, god of wine, and from that day, the river was rich in gold, which led to his dynasty growing wealthy and powerful. It’s a good lesson for all gamblers to learn, really. Don’t go overboard when you’re betting! As for gameplay, Gold King is a feature-heavy game with a lot of bonuses that come up quite often. Free spins were somewhat elusive for us while we were playing, but the super stacking and golden spins occurred in every ten to fifteen spins, though they aren’t guaranteed wins, and even when they are, there’s always the chance it’s built with lower paying symbols. In equal measure, Wilds don’t seem to be very common outside of free spins. We’re comfortable calling this slot high volatility, but once it gets rolling, it’s quite difficult to stop.
