Cops n Robbers Slots
When it comes to getting rich quickly, you can either get super lucky when you gamble or you can do something illegal and hope you don’t get caught. And if you do get caught, it’s off to the big house for you. Jail isn’t the most pleasant place to be, not to mention that you lose out on all the loot you’ve made out with, but at the very least you can always be on good behaviour or try and bust out. If you ask us, we made the right choice going the gambling route, because our hobby doesn’t land us in prison and when we make off with a win, we don’t have to worry about someone coming after us. Cops ’n’ Robbers offers a 5x3 playing field with 9 flexible paylines, allowing gamblers to turn them on and off at their leisure and focuses on the effort of a few thieves to break out of prison and outrun the police. To that end you have a car chase special feature, in which you will occasionally have to take a left or right in an effort to escape the cop car, and if you do, the wins you’ve grabbed during the chase are doubled!
How to PlayThe artists over at Play’n Go decided to go for a cartoony look rather than trying to pull off something more photorealistic and we have to admit, it was the right call to make. The prison seems a lot more threatening as a result, with prisoners lurking in the shadows of their cell, while most icons are related to reminiscing over the good old days when they made off with the loot, with just the small snag that they got themselves caught. Graphically, it’s quite enjoyable especially when the car chase begins. On the gameplay side of things, Cops ‘n’ Robbers is relatively fun to play, although it doesn’t really stray far from the familiar formula. Thanks to having a flexible amount of paylines, lower end gamblers will have the option to lower the amount of winning lines they can use, but by extent, lowering how much they have to invest per spin, which is the sort of player choice we always do our best to support. That said, in our experience, the game is best played with all paylines available as to not miss out on the special features.
Betting Options and PayoutYou can play Cops ‘n’ Robbers for as little as $0.09 up to $90, assuming you play with all paylines enabled. The game some alright scores outside of free spins, such as five-of-a-kind Wilds that can pay 3,000 coins. However, the bulk of your wins will probably come from the free spins special feature during which you score wins without having to pay the spins, and there’s the option of doubling any wins you get if you manage to escape the cops during the chase sequence. The theoretical maximum win is 135,000 coins.
Symbols and Extra FeaturesThe thing that impressed us most about the symbols was how smooth the animations on them were. A lot of them play on a similar theme of a gloved hand swiping up valuables and, admittedly, some, like the prisoner’s mugshot, don’t have an impressive animation rigged to them, but look pretty good unanimated as well. Still, none of that compares to the rear view mirror you can look at to keep an eye on a cop car chasing you while the free spins keep playing. Apart from the Wild doubling all wins it is a part of, the car chase free spins is the only bonus you can get. Unlike most other games, how many Scatters trigger the feature doesn’t matter for the amount of free spins you win. Instead, you are randomly assigned between ten to twenty-five extra turns, during which you have to try and evade the police. Succeed, and you double all the prizes you’ve won during the escape.
Our VerdictIt’s an overall enjoyable and simple slot to play around with. Considering it’s a remaster of an older title, it holds up surprisingly well in the modern day. The visuals are fantastic, the gameplay loop is solid, and there’s a juicy win to be scored by the luckiest few. So get spinning, cause you just might make off like a bandit.
