Coin Coin Coin Slots
With some slots, you launch the game and you know you will be stuck reading the paytable immediately. In equal measures, it is incredibly obvious when a game is super simplistic and easy to grasp. Both sides have their sworn supporters, and we would not dream of intervening in that conflict. Except in one case – a simple title that has high volatility. Coin! Coin! Coin! falls into that category exactly. It is about as oppressively red as they come, and oozes that traditional Chinese look that has been done a million times now. The slot is played on a 5x3 playing field with 10 fixed paylines. As for the available bonuses – you have expanding Wild and a progressive jackpot.
How to PlayThe game does show hints of promise. We can see some animations here and there, and the symbols do look well drawn. Having said that, all that effort goes to waste on a theme that has been done to death. Understandably, China is a huge market. But titles like these that just take the most generic Chinese things they can find are bland and uninspired. Coin! Coin! Coin! is played on a 5x3 playing field. Here, wins are granted for connecting three or more identical symbols alongside each other from left to right. The exception to this are golden bells, that can grant a cash prize with only two icons. The absence of any actual special feature is immediately noticeable, and just grinds our gears further.
Betting Options and PayoutPlayers can set their wagers between $0.80 up to $880 per spin. This is a reference to Chinese culture, where the number 8 is a lucky number. We like the idea of referencing this, but it just makes for a very awkward betting spread. A slot’s minimum bet starting at $0.80 rubs us the wrong way, too. The game has a medium-high volatility with an RTP of 96.03%. This is above average compared to other releases by the same developer. The maximum win, not counting the progressive jackpot, is 800x your total bet.
Symbols and Extra FeaturesAvailable icons can be split into two categories. Simpler symbols like golden bells, envelopes full of coins, red lanterns and strings with coins in them. More complex icons are the turtle and cat statues, and the golden hat. The golden coin, by itself, is Wild. When said Wild appears on the playing field, it expands to cover the entire reel it is a part of. Forming a five-of-a-kind Wild win grants the progressive jackpot!
Our VerdictIn the video game industry, the term shovel-ware was used to describe titles that were rushed for money. They were never going to be good, so the developers cobbled them together to make a quick buck, and disappeared. We would consider Coin! Coin! Coin! to fall into this category with ease. The only interesting thing about this slot is the progressive jackpot. The graphics and icons are generic and have been done better by others. The special features are non-existent. And the bet spread feels awkward because Playtech tried to shoehorn in lucky 8 references. Quite frankly, this sort of title is an embarrassment for a developer like Playtech. We can only hope they do better next time.
