Cash Truck is back, back again! Following a successful rollout of four Cash Truck slots, Quickspin decided to bring another one to the fold. Only this time, the story takes a medieval turn, as we go back in time to the older ages with swords, castles, carriages, chainmail, and other medieval paraphernalia. Cash Truck Begins is therefore, a story of the origins of Cash Truck.

With Cash Truck Begins, players get into uncharted territory, but they are aided by a plethora od special game features. For starters, the new game is fitted with a huge Bonus game with special symbols. It’s a Hold & Win feature, which is slowly becoming a trend in slot-making.

Played on a 5×7 grid, players get to use up to 16,807 ways to win. It’s very volatile, which is to be expected: it’s a game with a 20,000x win potential, after all.

From dusty roads and the future, we are going back in time – straight into a sword-swinging fantasy realm. It’s not really clear where we are, it’s just a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. Again, the focus is entirely on the grid before you. In this case, we have a 5-reel grid with 7 rows, 3 of which – the top ones – are locked. Essentially, the base game is a 5×4 grid with the potential to expand to 5×7 and deliver up to 16,807 ways to win. Variance runs high, pairing well with the 96.19% RTP.

To play, you need to first set your bet – choose the wager according to the betting range – and spin the reels. Matching symbols left to right will help you create wins. As more rows open with wins, the more ways to win you get.

The game also uses winning tumbles, which means you can create winning combos, get them to explode off the grid to make way for new icons on the grid. Each win unlocks 3 random locked positions on the grid.

The bet range starts at $0.20 and goes up to $100, which is a pretty standard betting range for a game of this caliber. It’s a highly volatile game with a massive win potential of 20,000x the stake, so it might be wise to be careful with placing bets.

When it comes to regular symbol payouts, the pay table is split into low-paying symbols made up of card suits. These pay up to 0.25x for 5 matching icons. They are followed by mid-paying symbols such as weapons and characters, which pay between 0.50x and 2x for 5 OAK. Lastly, the high-paying symbol pays 5x for 5 matching icons.

The game offers a Buy Feature option for 40x the stake, or 185x the stake – if you want 5 Scatters instead of 3.

In Cash Truck Begins, players get to experience tumbling wins, an expanding grid, Big Wilds, and a grand Bonus Game.

Tumbling Wins & Expanding Grid

Each win on the grid triggers a tumble. A tumble means that the winning icons are removed to make room for new ones. For every successful tumble, three locked positions are randomly unlocked, gradually expanding the grid until the entire grid is unblocked.

Big Wild

The game also has a Wild. It’s a Big Wild, too. Once the entire grid is unlocked during the base game, a massive 3×3 Big Wild symbol lands in the center, offering a potential boost in payout.

Second Chance

To get the Bonus Game, you need 3 Scatters. But, if exactly 2 scatters land (and Big Wild hasn’t triggered), it’s not all lost yet. Second Chance feature clears all symbols except the scatters, giving you another shot at triggering the bonus game.

Bonus Game

The main game booster is triggered by 3 or more scatters. It’s essentially a Hold & Win feature. You get 3 spins to collect cash symbols and special modifiers. Landing a new symbol resets the counter. Additional scatters award Expander symbols that unlock extra grid positions.

Special Symbols Include:

• Cash: Holds a bet multiplier.
• Grabber/Brutal Grabber: Collects values of other symbols once or every spin.
• Doubler: Doubles its value each time spins reset.
• Zapper/Brutal Zapper: Doubles adjacent symbol values once or on every spin.

The feature ends when you run out of spins.

Buy Feature

The Buy Feature allows you to buy entry to the Bonus Game. There are two options: 3+ Scatters is the Regular Bonus, that costs 40x. You can also choose the Enhanced Bonus, which is 5+ Scatters but costs 185x the stake.

Like all modern releases, Cash Truck Begins is accessible on all devices, including mobile phones and tablets. There’s no loss in experience when switching to a mobile device. It’s a smaller screen only, as all other functions are still available. The graphics are excellent on mobile too, but that’s a staple of Quickspin so it was expected.

Theme, Visuals & Sound

Truthfully, the departure from the post-apocalyptic and futuristic vibes of its predecessors is a bold move for Cash Truck Begins. The game rather embraces a gritty, medieval aesthetic, unlike the previous games. It’s fun, I think. A good decision on Quickspin’s move, which could have  The game transports you to a fantasy realm filled with armored warriors, axes, and gold-laden wagons. While the shift in theme is refreshing, the presentation still carries Quickspin’s signature polished look and thunderous audio, giving each spin a dramatic punch.

Our Experience Playing Cash Truck Begins

After a couple of hundreds of spins, I can say that I enjoyed the fast-paced action of the new Cash Truck slot. It’s medieval, so it’s not something I was expecting or something I get to play every day.

The slot gets point for the satisfying way the play area grows with each win. The Big Wild was a nice touch during base spins, and the Hold & Win bonus round is a total hit. Turns out, Betsoft knew what they were doing with including it in every single release for the past 2 years. In Cash Truck Begins, the Hold & Win Bonus game definitely kept things exciting. However, having played the third release, this installment felt more like a visual reskin than a fresh entry in that regard. The saving grace is definitely the bonus round. Still, hitting multiple Boosters and a Brutal Zapper in one bonus round brought the potential to life.
