Before the Megaways mechanic took the world of online gambling by storm, it was just a small innovation. The first instance of Megaways is in BTG’s 2015 release Dragon Born. However, BigTimeGaming was still a relatively small studio, and the first Dragon Born title failed to get much traction.  It was their 2016 Bonanza Megaways slot game that really got the ball rolling.

Back when this game first appeared, people were fairly confused about how to play Bonanza Megaways. The Megaways mechanic is fairly common these days, but we’ll go over the basics if you’re a complete beginner.

Essentially, Megaways doesn’t rely on traditional paylines to make winning combinations. You still need to arrange identical symbols from left to right, but they don’t need to make pre-set paths. For example, if there’s an Ace symbol anywhere on reels 1, 2, 3, and 4,  you have a winning combination. The row on which these symbols appear doesn’t matter.

That said, the base Bonanza slot game features 6 reels. However, these aren’t split into traditional rows either. Instead, the symbols can be of varying sizes which change with each spin. AS such, a reel can have anywhere between 2 and 7 symbols at a time.

The annoying part about BigTimeGaming slots is that they’re fairly limiting in terms of bet size. The £0.20 minimum and a £20 maximum should be enough for most players. However, some of the competition allows fur much larger wagers. Especially these days, when we have way more options for Megaways slots.

With a host of special features, alternating rows, and interesting mechanics, Bonanza Megaways by BTG is a very volatile slot. Throw in 10 standard symbols and expanding rows, and things get even more hectic. To its credit, though, the game boasts a reasonable 96% RTP rate. Volatile titles are usually fun but lacking when it comes to RTP – we’re glad to see that’s not the case.
