Sailing across the world, an endless ocean all around you as you laugh and drink with your mates, steal and plunder other people’s belongings and live a life of ultimate freedom. Real life piracy, sadly, was not quite so glamorous, but that does not stop people’s thoughts from running wild. Luckily for you, dear readers, the Playtech release lets you live the fantasy and may even let you come home with a bit of extra loot. Baam Boom is played on a 5×3 playing field with 25 fixed paylines. Available special features include free spins, Treasure Chest bonus with five stages to beat and a smaller version of that feature with only one map.

The slot does not have the most impressive graphics currently available, but they are ahead of the curve. We like the minor effect of the water moving back and forth behind the reels, and shifting from the zoomed in perspective to a zoomed out one that shows the entire ship during one of the special features is one of the most satisfying things we have ever experienced. Baam Boom is played on a standard 5×3 playing field, where pays are granted by collecting three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions, following the active paylines from left to right. Scatters are the only exception to this rule, and can award prizes from any position.

Players can set their wagers between $0.30 up to $300 per spin, which is a great betting spread for both casual gamblers and high rollers. The game has medium volatility and an RTP of 96.35%, making it slightly above average compared to other titles by the same developer. The maximum win is worth 166x your total stake.

Symbols include playing card royals 9, 10, J, Q, K and A, slightly stylised to look a bit washed out, as if they have been at sea for too long. Other icons include two flagons of beer behind a club, a stack of barrels behind a diamond, an old-fashioned gun and some bullets behind a heart, and a pair of cannons behind a spade playing card symbol. Special icons include Skull Scatter and two variation of Cannonball Wild. Three, four or five Scatters reward 10, 20 or 30 free spins, respectively.

During these extra turns, all Cannonball Wilds are collected and are saved for the Treasure Chest bonus. The number of Wilds you collect in free spins are the number of tries you get in the Treasure Chest special feature. You start on the first map and shoot at the shore to uncover the hidden treasure there. Once five prizes are found, you can progress to the next map, which has even better-paying treasures. Collect five Wilds during normal gameplay and you can play a less lucrative version of the Treasure Chest bonus, with only one map and five cannonball shots.
