The big boys of Las Vegas are now planning a new expansion for entertainment purposes. MGM Resorts International has put in place a plan to design a 5,000 seat venue outside of the Monte Carlo. This $100 million project that will begin construction in 2017 and will be a manifestation of MGMs ultimate goal as juggernaut in the gaming and entertainment industries. The new venue will be built into the hotel allowing one entrance and the entrance will be found on the outside of the complex. MGM has been a major part of the hierarchy in Las Vegas for years and this move will be another opportunity to flex their muscle.
This will be the first 5,000 seat venue under the MGM moniker which will set up an opportunity for a successful smaller size multi-purpose facility. The design and architecture will be done by a long time partner from Montreal Scene Plus who previous collaborated on 2 MGM designs, MGM Cotai in Macau and MGM National Harbor in Maryland. This will be just another major attraction MGM Resorts International will be able to high light over the next years.
The preparation for construction has begun with the MGM shifting and moving some of their big name acts like Blue Man Group and the Jabbawockees to their other respected facilities.(Luxor/Beacher’s Madhouse at the MGM Grand) The new arena will give MGM an opportunity to host more shows and with the smaller venue they’ll be able to accommodate to smaller acts with shorter run times. The extra space will be utilized properly and offer an opportunity for a more diverse lineup in the MGM entertainment listings. MGM has made a move that could benefit substantially, not only financially but gain even more support by local and tourist patrons.
