Single Deck Blackjack

Arrow’s Edge’s Single Deck Blackjack is a fantastic version of the world’s most popular casino card game. Like in most versions of Blackjack the aim of the game is to build a hand of cards that is closer in value to 21 than the dealer’s is but not to exceed 21 and go bust. The game allows you to play up to three hands at a time and as it is played with just one deck of cards it is much easier to keep track of which cards are more likely to come up and therefore develop your playing strategy.

How to Play

The first thing to do is place your bets. Simply set the chip value you wish to use using the arrow controls and then place the chips in the betting area for each hand. After you are happy with your bets click on ‘Deal’ to receive to face-up cards to each hands, at the same time the dealer will receive one face-up card and one facedown. You then need to choose whether to ‘Hit’ or ‘Stand’ for each hand. If you choose ‘Hit’ then an additional card is dealt to the hand whereas ‘Stand’ means you are happy with your cards. After this process the dealer’s hand is played. The dealer will always draw cards until their hand is worth at least 16 and stand when it is worth 17. In Blackjack Aces are worth either 1 or 11, the cards 2 through to 10 are worth their face values and all the face cards are worth 10. The best possible hand is an Ace and a ten card, this is called Blackjack and it will beat all other hands. After the dealer has finished playing his hand the winnings are calculated and paid out. After each hand it is possible to click on ‘Re-Bet’ and repeat the previous round’s betting without repositioning the chips on the table.

Betting Options and Payout

You can bet anything from $1 right up to $200. All winning hands are paid out at 1 to 1 while Blackjack is paid out at 3 to 2. If the dealer is dealt an Ace as their first card then it is possible to take out Insurance against them having Blackjack. If the dealer then does have Blackjack then Insurance is paid out at 2 to 1.

Extra Features

This Arrow’s Edge Single Deck Blackjack game includes many of the standard extra features that you’d expect from a high quality Blackjack game. After receiving your first two cards you can double your bet using the ‘Double’ button. The game also has a ‘Split’ option that can be used when the first two cards dealt have the same value. This splits the hand into two separate hands that can then be played independently. However, a split hand that totals 21 is considered 21 not Blackjack. Theoretically, this means that you could be playing up to six hands in a single round and have many more chances of defeating the dealer.

Our Verdict

Arrow’s Edge has produced an excellent version of Single Deck Blackjack. The game is easy to play, with clear controls that make the game play smooth and fast. It also includes all the extra features that you need from a high quality Blackjack game such as Insurance. In short, it is a first class Blackjack game that players are sure to enjoy.
