Shufflemaster and Paddy Power will soon be holding their own Nevada gaming license after having received nods from Nevada gaming commissioners. They are both officially one step far from their gaming licenses.
Both companies will just have to wait for final word for their applications, which will be delivered on July 26 at the meeting of the Nevada Gaming Commission. If both are approved for gaming licenses, players are expected to flock to the Nevada gambling market and heat things up.
The Gaming Control Commission had unanimously approved the application made by Shufflemaster last week. They are one step far from their license since the Control Commission is the last step before they get a final approval from the Gaming Commission itself.
Shufflemaster is know for their automatic card shuffling machines and is soon expected to be partnering with a land-based casino for its online gaming operations. They’re set to be shopping for a land-based casino after their deal to gain possession of OnGame Network had failed.
Shufflemaster will become the third company to receive a gaming license to operate intrastate poker in Nevada. The other two companies were Bally Technologies and IGT, which are also both game manufacturing companies rather than online casinos.
Paddy Power has been issued a finding of suitability by the Gaming Control Commission last week. This is basically a decision from the Control Commission that confirms they are eligible to receive a gaming license.
Paddy Power is unique compared to all other companies that regulators have approved of. The company does not own any casinos or licensed businesses in Nevada and yet Gaming Control is allowing them to go through with their licensing process.
They have a strong standing as a publicly trading company in the UK and their partnership with the British Columbia Lottery has helped their credibility. Regulators have cleared them of any debt, which poses less risk for players and vendors of the game.
The number of applicants for Nevada gaming license is expected to pile up over the next months especially with the online poker legislation being worked out. So far, there are no other big names that have been denied a license. But still people cannot be too sure about the events that might happen in the future especially with the long application process.
