Online gaming specialists 32Red have been in the news a fair bit lately for one reason or another. Today they are in the news again as they have announced two major sponsorship deals with professional football clubs in the English Football League, with Crawley Town and Newport County being the two teams to benefit from the new deals.
32Red are well known for their sponsorship of major football in England and Wales, having previously sponsored Aston Villa and more recently Swansea City. They were in fact the shirt sponsors of Swansea City when they won promotion to the Premier League two seasons ago, and they were also their sponsors this season as well when they claimed their first major trophy at Wembley in February when they beat Bradford City 5-0 to claim the Capital One Cup. Sadly that deal has come to an end now, but they have wasted little time in sponsoring two new football clubs for the coming season.
Newport County were last in the Football League some 25 years ago having been relegated in the spring of 1988. Since then the club have undergone some major changes, but they are now back in the big time having won promotion back to the Football League after beating Welsh rivals Wrexham in the end of season play-offs. Dave Boddy is the CEO at Newport County and he had this to say about the new deal. He said, “This is another massive step forward for the club, attracting an international company to advertise its brand on our clubs shirts.”
Clubs that have won promotion from the Conference to the Football League have a good record of claiming promotion again, and one such club is Crawley Town, who just three years ago won the Conference and with it promotion. They have since gone on to win promotion to League One and they are the second club that 32Red will be sponsoring for the forthcoming season. Ewan Dunlop is the Commercial Manager at Crawley Town and he had this to say about his clubs new sponsors. He said, “This is a tremendous deal for the football club. We have attracted an internationally renowned company with a well-known brand who has an excellent track record of working with football clubs. We are thrilled that it can see many benefits and we look forward to a long a fruitful relationship and to working closely with 32Red.”
Great news for both clubs then and they are sure to benefit from the knowledge that 32Red have gained over the years in sponsoring Aston Villa and Swansea City. Crawley will be pushing hard for promotion to the Championship next season after just missing out this year, and Newport will no doubt be looking to put on some good displays and keep up the tradition of newly promoted clubs having a good first season in the Football League.
